TJ Maxx won big this Christmas

This Christmas season was pretty solid but cautious – overall retail sales up about four percent, with people hunting deals hard and being super picky.

The big winners in fashion were off-price spots like TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, and Burlington – they crushed it because everyone wanted value. Luxury held strong too for the high-end crowd, think deeper discounts pulling in splurges.

Mid-tier brands had a tougher time, but standouts included:

•  Lululemon (strong holiday demand, they even bumped up forecasts)

•  Abercrombie (hot again, better-than-expected sales)

•  American Eagle

•  Fast fashion like Shein and Zara stayed popular for cheap thrills

For what actually flew off the shelves (especially with Gen Z, who dominated the “what I got for Christmas” hauls):

•  Ugg boots and slippers (ultra minis were everywhere)

•  Anything from Edikted (their jeans and basics)

•  Victoria’s Secret loungewear and PINK stuff

•  Activewear/leggings from Lululemon and Alo

•  Cozy knits, hoodies, and statement pieces that TikTok loved

Basically, comfy, trendy, affordable-ish vibes won the holiday – no huge surprises, but value and viral Gen Z picks ruled!
